Ohh NOOOOO
So for the past couple Weeks we have been smelling some FIERCE skunk around our Neighborhood. Then about a week ago dustin and some neighbors and I were sitting outside and saw the skunk under our neighbors car then dustin went to get his air rifle to kill it... If you didn't know... those things are FAST so he couldn't get it. Now tonight (a matter of mins ago) dustin went to get the dog in and after shadow (our black lab) came up the steps dustin comes in and says that the dog got sprayed. CRAP CRAP CRAP now I have a skunked dog and if that was not enough, dustin was walking around the back yard to try and find the culprit to well "extinguish his flame" he stepped in a dog mine. WOW what a crappy night! Any who... does anybody know a GOOD way to rid a dog of the horrible skunk odor?

Tomato juice. Crap loads of it in the tub. When I lived in Cleveland Hts. there was an infestation of skunks. Everyone knew the old tomato juice method. It may take three or four bathings though...good luck!

thanks, my parents dog chewed on a dead skunk and smelled horrible, tried tomato juice, tried beer, tried vinegar... NONE of it worked. I read about a concoction of 1qt of Peroxide and baking soda and dish soap. I think I will try this also herd about using Lava hand soap because the soap is made to cut grease and oil. I donno I will try a little bit of everything.
Also brandon... he didn't get stung by a jelly fish!

You know why the skunk sprayed your dog, because it knew Dustin was trying to shoot it.I bet it was cracking up thinking of you trying to get his stink off your dog.LoL.That skunk had a good night.

yeah, very funny... he must have had a blast. I do know that skunks only spray when scared so I am willing to bet that he wouldn't consider spraying my dog a good night... but maybe... who knows

I've heard lemon juice can neutralize it... but I've never tried it, myself.

I didn't say it worked quickly. You may need several bathings but it has worked for me int the past (not my dog... )
