:( I don't get a good feeling here at all. I just hope the little guy makes it. I don't like that he has stopped (or did he eat at all from you got him???) eating.

Too much of everything, especially handling, is killing him with stress.

Please try to listen to the experts on this site, calm down and leave your monitor to try to adjust to his surroundings, without constantly disturbing him.

I know nothing of monitors but even I can see the problem.

Please do not take offense to what I have said, I only want to see this little creature survive and thrive with you.

Good! continue to not touch him, has he eaten yet? If not cut up a pinky then leave it in a bowl overnight, and make sure the cage is dark. My water monitor would only eat at night when we first got her because she was such a high stress lizard.

raz i tried a diffrent approach i took a pinkie heated it up a little then took him out on my bed, this is after he basked, and held it and wiggled it by the tail and he charged it, he is eating now while in my hand he is a strange animal, i found one of the crabs in half 2 so he ate that, also gave him some turkey. he ate that, i think the reason was the cage wasent hot enogh, i gave him my dragons light before he basked, and my dragons light is fken hot he dosent even stay under it long, but the monitor loved it. the monitor raz is in a 3 1/2 by 2 feet tall and a foot wide, i used every available thing, he can climb swim and burrow, everything is good now just needed to turn up the heat. also raz not to say you were wrong, but he likes to be held hes mellowed out alot from when he first got here, he crawls along my arms, (I DO NOT HOLD HIM DOWN HE FREE CLIMBS!!!!) and hes fine baskes, eats, digs, climbs, and swims fine. i think it was just the stress of me holding him of when i first got him (shipping), i called the breeder and he holds the monitors, so there tame or working to be tameish when they ship outa

Who was the breeder of the Nile monitor? Well what ever you have to do to keep it eating and growing, expect it to be 4-5 feet in a year.
