Which monitor should I get?

A quick question for all those with monitors.

My cousin wants to get a monitor. All I have are boas (10), Balls (10), and iguanas (2). So I cant really direct him anywhere. What kind of monitor is good for a first time monitor owner?

Any and all opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance for all that respond.

Tom (razeraze) knows an awful lot on them. I'd shoot him a pm or wait until he sees this.

Just remember monitors tend to be more hands off than iguanas. Depending on diet, size and if you don't mind getting maimed, will weigh heavily on which monitor is right for your cousin. Tegu tend to have a better disposition. Also the best lesson I learned the bigger the monitor the more damage it will do to you.

I agree that a tegu is a better choice, but if you are set on getting a monitor, I would suggest a sav. They dont get as big, and usually have a decent disposition.
