Varanids are very territorial and if they do not have sufficient room to escape males will kill males or females and vice versa. You will know the gender if a vet or you get it to fully evert the hemipenes or if it lays eggs. Other than that an endoscope maybe the only other way.

ok so I did the rolling thing on the vent and the only thing I saw was a straight red line going across inside..I looked as far as I could and thats all I saw

I think that is about the size they become sexually mature, but I do not know too much on ackies.

i read that and i didnt see anything but that red slit i even could look into the hole and saw nothing..well shes the only one left .. :( so I guess it really doesnt matter
