Euthanized our savannah.
After 2 years of no improvement we finally euthanized our savannah monitor Tank. The necropsy revealed choleliths and amyloidosis. So far no advice on prevention or cause of these two diseases has been advised. I am not sure if it is just bad luck or some invisible underlying problem; but it seems like I am not going to get answers for the diseases that took two of my monitors. Egg yolk peritonitis, and now choleliths and amyloidosis.
Here is a copy of the necropsy if anyone has any advice.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that it went down that way. It is bad enough to lose an animal. Makes it that much worse when you can't figure out why. I have gone thru it myself and it doesn't feel good.

Tom this is so sad and heartbreaking for you. After years of trying! I know what these animals mean to you and am very sorry.
Do you think it may be something to do with their diet? Something that maybe they eat in the wild that nobody knows about? That keeps them in good condition or neutralizes some negative effect of their regular diet?
Don't let this stop you from continuing to care for, give advice on and learn from these incredible lizards!
Thanks for caring.

Hate to hear it man. Sounds like to me like gall stones did him in. When the gall bladder gets fouled up, any fat in the diet turns into bad mojo. It's funny that we/they can live without a gall bladder but can't live with one that isn't functioning. Build up of bile causes bacterial infection/septicemia. How to prevent it? Can't really. I guess you could have had his gall bladder removed if you knew it was having problems. But ...how would you have known?
