The monitor in question is an Asian Water Monitor [Varanus salvator].

I am surprised to see them keeping that Black Throat on Pebbles. I am sure some of them get in his/her mouth when feeding. Same with the Mangrove on sand.

I like the picture of the one chasing the pinkie on the tongs............a bit blurry but still cool.

I have a monitor but it is camera shy. It's a Great Jamaican Frilled Swamp Monitor. Very rare indeed and critically endangered. Since I cannot take pics of it - too risky - you will all just have to imagine it.

Like me.
