Culture test back
In case anyone was wondering Precious's test came back. Blood tests were normal but culture test resulted in:
Organism #1 abundant growth: Klebsiella Oxytoca
Organism #2 abundant growth: Enterobacter cloacae
Organism #3 light growth: Coagulase negative staph
It seems all 3 can result in Pneumonia symptoms or Bronchitis symptoms and all 3 can be found in people and reptiles. I guess I am the idiot who caused this, I will know for sure when my blood and culture test come back. The good news is all 3 are sensitive to Amikacin. If it does not reduce the bacteria count, we will have to give Piperacillin injections as well as more Amikacin. Stupid zoonotic diseases. Here is some decent reading on one. I have not read it all the way through but you can bet I will.

At least you KNOW what is going on. That is much better than just specualting and gives some course of action that you can take. Now you just gotta get that animal better and all will be fine

Sunday should finish off her Amikacin and we will have to schedule another appointment for a culture test to see if there has been any progress.
If anyone else finds themselves sick and having to clean cages I recommend a mask and gloves, just to be safe.

Thank you everyone. I hope she kicks this soon and no one else in the house hold catches it.

I'm sure she will. Having a sick snake is no fun. I'm going through that battle right now as well.

Thanks for telling us Raze. I never would've thought they could catch something from us.

Thanks everyone Brandon which one of your snake's is sick and with what?
MPGT, I knew they could catch infections from us and vice versa, but I thought it was incredibly rare especially if you wash your hands before and after. Boy was I wrong. :crying: :cursing:
