Li'l Sand Shifter

Picked up this little girl a while back with a few other acquisitions for programs. Beautiful Kenyan Sand Boa. She is just a tiny little thing now, but once she gets older she will be a great demonstration for physiological adaptations with her shovel head and tiny eyes.

I've always thought those were neat snakes. Thanks for sharing.

They are such interesting snakes! I keep going back and forth if I should get one (they are up for adoption in craigslist fairly often). I just think they would stay hidden most of the time. That one has really nice orange and such an adorable little face.

If you are looking for a display animal, they certainly do not fit the bill. You could just as easily put sand in an empty tank and TELL people there is a sand boa in there

LOL! It's a great snake for people who don't want any. Just get the sand and the tank...no feeding or cleaning necessary!

I love its colors and shape. But this adorable little sweetheart made me remember with revulsion part of a show I saw last night called "Man Vs. Wild" and the guy "lost in the desert" actually took a real little desert snake - I think a sidewinder - and smashed it, killed it, cooked and ate it .... I could not believe what I was seeing. It's some kind of "how to survive" program. As far as I am concerned it is so very sad and sick, totally unnecessary and cruel, and should be illegal. I will never watch that horrible show again.
