So I ship out a couple of animals today because the temps are supposed to drop for quite a while after today...Next day air for morning delivery. You would think that that would be it. Saw the truck pull out and everything. E-mailed the tracking # to the customer. Began tracking it myself (just to be sure). Watched it for a while and everthing was going fine. Then......wouldn't you guess it........."SHIPMENT EXEPTION!!!!...DELAY BEYOND OUR CONTROL!!!" So I call trying to figure out what the #$!#$!#$!#$! is going on and they blame it on the #$##@, weather. The plane can't leave Philly becuase of the weather??!! You gotta be kidding me! THERE IS NO WEATHER HERE AT THE MOMENT!! That is why I am shipping today. So they are saying that the shipment may not go out until tomorrow or even Friday.

I am sure some of you all have heared me gripe about the service at FedEx but I do believe I will take my chances on another carrier from here on out. Within the past year this it the 3rd problem that I have had out of 8 transactions. This is getting rediculous.
And that is just one of several threads that I could search for.

I have the exact opposite problem. UPS is the ONLY courier that I have had animals DIE with. I work in shipping, and fedex is far more reliable 10 to 1 for express services. UPS rocks at ground, but you arent shipping reptiles by ground...

Yesterday we had 3 geckos shipped to us, we check the tracking number, and it going from Florida, to California, however, it is currently in Connecticut. The funny part, is that they scan packages by batch, not individually, so at 3am tracking said that it was in our hub in Oakland. At 9 am, it is on the truck for delivery in Connecticut! Says "package was incorrectly sorted at sorting facility"

They dont get any brownie points for getting another state that also starts with the letter "C"

Fail. Major Fail. Hopefully they wont show up dead? There is $600 worth of geckos out the window!

boo UPS.

Edit: People forget that there are 3 locations in which you have to check the weather.
#1 your location
#2 the recipient's location
#3 THE SORTING FACILITY location.

You and bob could have excellent weather, in the 70s, no drop, blue sunshiny sky. In the midwest it could be hurricanes and flooding, in which case your package is going nowhere FAST.

I don't care for UPS either. They take a loooooong time to show up and it freaks me out on hot days, having them couped up in those trucks all day.
.
FedEx seems to show up nice an early. To each is own I suppose.

And Fed X drives white trucks so they don't get as hot inside anyway. If you ever need to know why Fed X is late, just watch Castaway. It explains it all in great detail. USPS Express mail is probably the most reliable...at least in my experience and it IS legal to ship lizards through them. Not that this is legal or a suggestion...but I doubt anyone at USPS could tell the difference in the x ray of a baby snake and a "Russian legless lizard" ...no don't listen to me! That's a federal crime!
