Uh oh... Is this a problem?

Botis my ball python went about 3 feedings without a defecation so I spent 20 minutes each day for the past 3 days massaging him in luke-warm water. I could definately feel a clump in there and I could here a slight "sloshing sound" inside when I rubbed a certain spot several inches from his cloeca (sp?). Tonight he finally went and it STANK!

My entire room stank and the stool was black and very wet, although not diarreah it was extremely mushy.

Every stool hes had before this has been dry, scentless, and slightly brown so im kind of worried here.

He is extremely active, I dont visually see any signs of a problem. When I take him out hes all over the place exploring and finding places to hide.

Is this in relation to him being switched from mice to rats over the past 2 feedings perhaps? Or is this normal feces for a sub-adult snake?

Also, I realize this is the python section but... Persephone my BCI has been very sluggish over the past 3-4 weeks. She used to climb on her vine and soak alot but lately she hardly moves. I take her out and she crawls for a bit then just stops to sleep or daze off. Shes about 8 months old right now. Is it because shes simply becoming older or what? She used to be all over the place like Botis. She never explores around her cage at night anymore, just shifts to a new resting spot occasionally.

I have them both in 55 gallon's at the moment with proper conditions met. I clean and sanitize the tanks regularly, as well as the water dishes.

The python thing could simply be the adjustment from mice to rats. Rats are "more meat" if you will, and most likely, take longer to digest. The room smelled because it permeated through tthe water. That's my guess.

As for the boa... could be toward the end of a shed cycle.

Other than that, I really dont know.
