Rick~ This is the worst pain in the world! I know only a huge hug would do more than words right now as I know there's nothing I can say to make you feel better as I unfortunatley lost my cousin to a drowning 2 years ago and 2 friends just recently. Its amazing how badly words can hurt when informed of news like this. If any words could make your pain a bit less I guess its that there is so many ppl here for you who care about you and what you have to go through. ~Christina

My brother was killed by a car while riding his bicycle 10 years ago. I'm not saying it's the same, but if you want a shoulder, you've got mine. There is no pain that compares.

Thanks everyone. It really means a lot to me that you all took the time to read this and comment with your own experiences, etc.
I have a sense of peace knowing that he is not suffering and is in a better place now, watching over us all.
He will be a constant reminder to me that life is short and we have to live it up while we still can. I hope you all can take away a piece of that message, too.

I know the pain, it gets better with time. I lost 12 friends and brothers in arms over the past 15 months in Iraq. Death was never real to me until a bullet skipped off the top of my helmet, took shrapnel in the lower back, and lost almost all hearing in my left ear, all within 5 minutes,I was lucky. Life is so fragile , i always stress that to everyone.

:(This happened in August 2007 and I am just seeing this thread.
You are so right about being careful how we deal with our friends and family. Never go to sleep on a quarrel, and remember anyone can go at any time.
So sorry about your cousin, Masahiko.
