I'm curious, why does it matter whether or not the courts consider the lizards "pets" or just reptiles? It was animal abuse regardless....and I would be going to jail for capitol murder when I found out about it...Throw my snake against the wall? K. Repeatedly stab my snakes? K. Karma is a *****.

Unfortunately Tom it matters a ton on how society views an animal or situation. This is exactly why I am going to try and do all I can to speak out in this case. If it is ruled they are not companion animals their value will reduce greatly in the public eye and judges will use this case as a reference for further reptile related issues.

I would like to organize something before the next court date. Perhaps we (anyone near Illinois or in Illinois) can all go to the court house and show our support. The next court date is Feb. 20.
Currently parts of Canada are trying to ban exotics because:
"By prohibiting the sale and keeping of a number of exotics, the new bylaw will send an important message to the public that owning these kinds of animals is not socially acceptable."

This way of thinking starts at cases like this about the Bearded dragon. Please if you contact the prosocuter I mentioned think before you talk. We can not have him thinking we are emotionally unstable teenagers looking for retribution.

omg that's terrible! good job raze keeping your cool and being productive about this. Its an outrage, and she shouldn't get any slack because the animals she REPEATEDLY stabbed were reptiles and not furry. GAH it makes me so mad. Your doing a great job at keeping your anger in check and productively helping. I wish you the best and if there's anything I can do from out here in Cali let me know.

All is not going well. I spoke to my cousin (an attorney) and he said odds are the prosocuter could care less about the case. He has not returned any of my phone calls, so the last thing I can do is try and find legal proof lizards are companion animals and mail it to his office.
