Sounds like the woman was a victim and instead of knowing what that feels like and not passing it on she became a perpetrator of violence. So sad to take your anger, fear, and resentment out on defensless animals. I almost said something trite like at least they weren't children but it is about the same thing and the same act in my book as abusing a kid cause your mad at your spouse and the child dying as a result I am surprised the court has to make a ruling on this even aquarium fish are companion animals to some. If you interact and care for them it shouldn't matter what they are.

Thanks everyone. Sirens5 well put. If it had been me, the choking would only occur after the animals were harmed, and I would be going to jail for a long time.
I think many of us invest so much time and emotion into our reptiles that it is time society started accepting them as normal companion pets.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this story, it is hard living so close and not acting out on the people who did this, so thanks for letting me vent this to you in a healthy way.

Ditto. When Curtis and I have friends over to visit, the dog, the cat, and the snakes all come out to greet and visit with everyone. Just because we have company over doesn't mean the snakes don't get the same attention as the other "kids". And our friends (most of them) really enjoy interacting with Kobi and Jezi! My friend, Kyra, will tell anyone that she is Kobi and Jezi's "Aunt Kyra", just like she does with the dogs and cat. To her, the snakies are just as much pets as dogs and cats, and she doesn't even keep reptiles! Actually, she was terrified of Kobi when I first got her, but all that BP lovin' changed her mind quick  Anyway, Hijack over....
Back to the OP, that is disgusting. How could someone do that to those helpless lizards? I can't even think about it anymore. Its sick.

I haven't posted on this thread yet because I cannot say anything constructive I am so angered. There is no excuse for hurting a spouse, but to retaliate by hurting then killing the lizards :cursing: And how can the court even question the value of the animals companionship????? Sirens5, you said it very well. My mother was just asking me if I had to choose one species of pet to keep could I. And I told her that she might as well just kill me because to me asking which pet was worth more would like asking her to choose between me or my brother. It doesn't matter what kind of animal it is, if being kept as a pet then it is a companion.
