keep kids away from exotics
Doctors: No hamsters or exotic pets for young kids - Yahoo! News
OOOH OOOOH I know! lets just wrap them all in bubble wrap! That should protect them from EVERYTHING. It is my understanding that immune systems have to be exposed to the virus in order to develope immunity to it. Simple precautions such as washing hands after handling and not letting your child share your iguana's home should be pretty darn effective.

I read this yesterday or the day before. They also shouldn't ride bicycles, skateboards, watch tv, eat transfats, sneeze with their eyes open, or breathe the US air.
What kind of ####### are we becoming as a nation?

Its nothing new Botis, we have been an idiocracy for years. Think back to the first warning label you ever saw for drano that said "this is not a food product, do not ingest"

I still remember that big lawsuit against Mcdonalds some years back.
Now they actually have to label the coffee with "Hot, drink with caution" or some such nonsense.
Give it 50 years, well be watering our crops with Gatorade because it has "electrolytes." The thirst quencher!

I am 60 years old and have kept all kinds of animals - insects, fish, amphibeans, reptiles, birds and mammals - all my life without any problems except the occasional bite/whip/scratch. Once in a while someone will do something stupid or ignorant and get hurt or sick - this applies to EVERYTHING that we do!!!

Keeping ANY kind of pet has a myriad of POSSIBLE dangers. Dos, cats, hamsters, gerbils, you name it, can ALL carry disease, bite, scratch, etc.
Might as well tell parents you can't have pets at all!!! That's one of my fondest memories as a child: walking thru the woods with my dog.
What's sad is that ignorant people will base their decisions based exclusively on the content of that article!!!
