Wet Pets
My girlfriend, Tamara (Bleeding Sarcasm), David Loftin, and I went to Wet Pets in El Sobrante today. I have never seen such a blatant disregard for animals in my life. :(
I won't talk about the dogs or other animals, just the boas.
They had 4 or 5 BCI's in one cage. The water looked like it had been sitting for months (literally). One boa moved towards the glass to greet us and he had the worst case of mouth rot I've ever seen. He also looked like he had not eaten in years (literally) or drank clean water in months (literally!!). I'm sure if I looked closer there would be mites over all of them.
What can you do in a situation like this? If you buy the boa to save it, you support these scumbags. If you walk out, he's headed for death. :(
I think I all can do is put a bad review on the internet and hope people Google them and this page comes up. Maybe that will keep them from making money off of dying animals.

Also, I informed the owner that he had a boa that needs a vet he replied:
"Yes, I know. We are treating him."
Scum bag.

Looking this place up on the internet I ran across people that are discussed by it and say it should be shut down. One person talked about baby chicks that were in an aqurim that was way to small for all of them that were shoved in it. Another person said that the sales reps yell at the dogs if they bark and if they fight they don't even try to stop it or separate the dogs. Sounds like the worst place ever to buy a pet.

Jesse, I agree with you about the pets...but.....I didn't know that Tamara was now your girlfriend and wasn't that a little awkward going with David?

Yea, the funny part is that you didnt even get through a fracton of that store. That snake was badly dehydrated, the scales were peeling up, and the cage glass was cold to the touch. It was bad. The other reptiles are not much better. Critter keepers shoved in a vision cage, sharing one heat lamp [no individual heat or temperature gradients] the geckos always look in crappy condition, always dead fish in the tanks etc. And they sell puppy mill puppies, "non registered saves you money" $900 for dogs that vets in the area WONT SEE because they are unhealthy. They never get let out for walks and are confined to a 2' square cube that they share with another dog. The only water they get is from a rabbit water bottle. Totally wack.
Hahha, and that is hella funny. No, David and I did not break up, Mrs. Utah is totally rad. We had quite the eventful weekend. UFC Fight, Bar till last call, wet pets, casino, more drinking, park. Good times! hahah
edit: Hahahhahah, what is even funnier then that, is I didnt realize I was logged in as david

That sucks man. It's a very uncomfortable situation to be in like you mentioned. There's a place down in spokane that has the same type of situation going on with boa. Horrible water and dirty enclosure. First time I went in there, I thought 2 of the boas were dead. Very sad situation.

thats when you find some bum on the road and tell him you will give him 100.00 dollars to burn the thing to the ground lol,
in all seriousness its a shame how puppie mills, and "pet" stores are not monitored and regulated. theres a time for some revamping of laws and it needs to happen now.
