Rodent Pro question
I just posted a thread about a crazy shed. I lost a boa early this year and had a boa the same boa with the shed problem regurge a few weeks ago....the name Rodent Pro keeps coming up in conversations about potential problems I am having with my collection. Rat toxicity was mentioned as one of the possibilities after posting the shed thread on a different board.
Check this thread from that other board and the responses.
http://reptileinsider.com/upload/showthread.php?t=7216
Now I don't like trashing companies but if I am not the only one who has had these issues please let me know. Come out of the woodwork and speak up about your experiences with rodent pro......I have too many thousands invested in my collection to play with this kind of problem. Not to mention the fact that me and my family love each animal individually.
Thanks for all responses......
Not sure where to put this thread so I placed it here as I am sure it will eventually become a "review" of sorts if I get responses.

A couple things about my experience with RodentPro:
a) The rats that showed up were 2x bigger than the pictures on the website.
b) The rats smell like they died in a pool of their own urine.
I will never buy from Rodent Pro again.

sounds awesome. reasons why I never buy from big breeders like that, its not really worth the $ you save buying in bulk, if the quality is aweful. Dank, have you thought about raising your own rats? If you build a decent rodent rack with sippers and everything, all you have to do is keep them fed, and clean 1x a week, smell isnt that bad, and the quality is 100x better.

If any Bay Area people on this board breed their own rats, please PM me.

I used to. Once I get my loose rat "issue" taken care of, I might invest in a decent rack and breed my own feeders again. I love doing it, and its cheap and easy, I always had really healthy animal. I just cant deal with loose rats picking the hoppers clean and killing my rodents through the cages.

hahah, I used to almost give them away on CL. I mostly switched to mice after my bite, and if I can avoid rats, Id rather stick with rabbits, mice, gerbils and hampsters. Maybe like a PAIR of hairless, but nothing large scale like I had before.

I am really not too much of a fan of rodent breeding. To me that is more work than raising the snakes themselves. I have heard some good things about a couple of other places. I may have to give them a try.

Dank,
My boas (of all sizes) have been fed rodent pro rats exclusively for the past two years without incident. I wouldn't rush to any particular conclusion at this point. I know you are panicking bro, but hang in there. Your girl is going to be ok.
Others have shared the same concerns with me about rodent pro. FYI--I'm actually going to try the mouse factory for my next rodent shipment just to have something to compare with rodent pro. I am also going to try a local supplier.

Texas Rattlesnake - Will please post a review about the Mouse Factory when your feeders arrive? I usually hear good things about them and I'm thinking of trying them out.
