I will add that I normally feed my adult male IJ 6 mice every two weeks. I pile them up on a plastic tray and just stick it in the cage. He knows the routine and eats them one by one.

And...your tip on increasing the size of the water bowl for added humidity is a great technique that I've found has worked very well!

Thanks!
have you tried gettin the lil rocker on rats?...1 rat costs less then 6 mice

I have tried every trick that I've read about except the one where you poke the rat into his mouth just as he's finishing off a mouse. I'll try that one next. I just fed him last week so it will be next week when I try it! My other Carpet (the IJ/Jag sib) took to rats immediately.

I've tried scenting, braining, soaking in chicken broth, offering only rats for two months, let's see.....I can't remember what else. I have read about folks allowing their snake to go many months while only offering rats. I just can't do that. He was seriously climbing the walls and rubbing his nose after a while and I didn't want him to injure himself trying to get out from hunger.

If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears!

is it the right size? Does any one have that chart that shows you the sizes? I know I used that to help me.

I didn't really have a problem switching to rats. Sounds like your doing all the tricks i know...

What size are you asking about, Brooksie?

Did I mention that my younger carpet had no problem switching to rats?

I need all the help I can get! I'm sorry! I hope you didn't misinterpret my tone in my question to you, Brooksie...I was honestly confused as to what you were referring to when you asked about size. I certainly didn't mean to convey anything but confusion on my part (which is a common occurance).

I guess you meant the size of the snake?

I used to do the bleach/water thing. Now I use Quat Plus, besides being a cleaner, it's also anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and very easy to use. You just wipe down the area, spray the quat plus, leave it for about 10 minutes then wipe it off and you're ready to pop the snake back in. I got mine from big apple but you can probably find it through many reptile supply places.
