RE: True Red Tail (BCC/ Boa Constrictor Constrictor) Care
Okay, this seems to be working for him: He is eating a slightly undersized meal (small rat) every 7-9 days. His last 2 poops were 11 days apart. Also, the poops occurred 4 days after one meal and 9 days after the next. Prior to that it had been several weeks between poops. I think he has put on a little weight. What do you all think? Is 11 days too soon between poops?
In the summer, his tank tends to get a little warmer, going up to 91-92 in the warm end, 86-87 in the middle, and 78ish on the cool end. I cannot afford another thermostat at the moment, so I'm hoping that is a reasonable range. Feedback appreciated.

Sounds pretty good to me. BCC don't tent to put on weight quickly anyway. As long as he is still gaining he is doing well.
As far as thermostats go...I only have one on my neo rack. The rest of my cages are set on rheotsats (cheap zoo med ones at that). Works fine. Even when Tiny was gravid that is all that I used. You see how things turned out for her litter (and temps are more important then than other times).

I always thought 95F degrees was the highest it should be... Is this right?

It certainly shouldn't be any higher with a Boa c. c.. Find out what suits your animal best and go from there. Some of mine like high 80's, and some like low-ish 90's.
