Any suggestions,water problems.
I'm having problems with the water in the tank i keep my eastern painteds in.I will do a complete water change,and completely clean the filter.And five to seven days later it turnes very cloudy and stinks,and then goes green so bad you Can't even see a turtle in there.This happens quickly,It's not like I'm letting the tank sit there and rot,I run an Eheim canister filter also.
I'm getting very frustrated,I'm getting ready to thow everything away and start over.But I'm afraid whatever is causing this will just pop up again,I certainly Can't bleach the turles...LoL.I kept painted turtles years back and never had a problem like this,It's driving me mad!

are you using tap or distilled water, i wonder if that makes a difference and the ph of the water also.

could be that the city changed something in the tap water thats reacting with the turtle set up and waste.
if you have a filter in their and the water is being pumped and circulated and its getting cleaned that one befuddles me. hopefully someone with more experience in that area can figure it out.

maybe a new filter, i dont know much about turtles or aquariums with water in them lol.

I know that in a fish tank we had when I was a kid there was like a bacteria that lived on the tanks and to kill it we had to get rid of all the fish and bleach the tank and let it sit for a while. I am not sure what it was though I was to young to remember but I do remember having to clean the darn thing out!

I couldn't tell you... I was saying ick when i was cleaning the cage lol... what was happening with ours though the water didn't just get foggy it got like this weird gray color that was foggy and then green crap started growing on EVERYTHING!!!

well cant really tell then cause i sure aint no expert at any kind of water aquarium lol, probably mold or something, maybe to much food was being feed that the fish could eat or something not really know anything lol .
