Surprise!!!
Starting on Friday evening we had what is now called "Tropical Storm Dolly" pass over Jamaica in the form of lots and lots of rain and a bit of breeze in gusts. What does this have to do with turtles???
Bear with me.
About five months ago, I acquired a large female Jamaican pond turtle (Jamaican Slider) to be a companion to a turtle (male) that I have had for about seventeen years, which was found wondering on the road in Montego Bay by my daughter. This male turtle is so far unidentified. It is not a red eared slider, not a Jamaican slider and I have not found any other turtle that looks like it. Anyway his name is Billy and he was living alone for about a year before I got Andromeda, the Jamaican pond turtle.
I saw them mating but since I have never had any luck with digging up and incubating any eggs I have ever found in all my years of keeping many different turtles, I ignored them.
So it poured with rain Friday night and Saturday morning and during a slight break I went out on the patio to tend to my giuanas. A little movement on the ground at my feet....what the...??? OMG. It's baby turtle with his egg tooth still on!!!
To cut a long, wet, crazy, digging, sliding, cursing story short, I now have in my care seven baby "whatever" turtles. I am not certain who the father is but they do not look like Andromeda. They are some kind of mix.
Got to get back to work - will continue later......

OMG congrats! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story and see the babies! Why do cameras always malfunction at the worst times?

I am going to need some input from you turtle people now, as to how soon and what to feed them. I am thinking fish food.
I figure they were hatched on Friday afternoon, and the seven that we found were the ones that survived the flood in my garden on Friday night and Saturday.
Right now they are in a plastic washtub with about half an inch of water and a raised area out of the water, on top of my iguana cage under a tree so they get a bit of "dappled" sunshine. I bring them inside at night with a lamp nearby to keep the tub warm.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I am a camera catastrophe....always some problem! I think maybe half of what I post here is taken with a big grain of salt as I have no pics to "prove" what I am saying! Plus it's so boring without pictures. I am SO frustrated....
