Turtle Pie? I said Cutie Pie, which tastes a lot like Sweetie Pie, if you have ever tried that.

Guess what???? Now I have 8 baby turtles.
Last week Saturday I was amazed to see something very small swimming about in my adult turtles' pond. The "pond" is a metal washtub sank into the earth with rocks around it for basking.
It was another baby turtle, born on July 19th, and found on September 6. I have no idea how he made it into this tank as there is an edge that he could not possibly have climbed over - and yet, there he was swimming about with Billy, my adult male whatever turtle!
I put him with the other babies that I found the day they were born, nearly six weeks ago. He had survived somehow, but is half the size of the others! He has some catching up to do. I have them on Reptomin baby turtle food and good sunlight every day.
I never realized how FAST these little turtles grow. I always thought they were very slow growers. Live and learn.

Tammy you idiot!!! Hasn't it occured to you at all that maybe Billy or the female saw this baby and carried it into the water like how a mother crocodile does with her babies? How else could it have gotten over the high ledge into the tank????
Don't you remember how your turtles sometimes act like crocs with those poor pigeons?

Aww, too cute, the little one was out searching for his brothers and sisters and you re-united them. We have a Japanese Garden near my house that has a pond with a small colony of red-ear sliders, it's amazing how they are able to crawl up, I am constantly trying to figure out how they were able to get on some of the rocks I see them on... it seems impossible but there they are!

The thing about this tank is that it's a metal washtup that is not totally sunk into the earth, it has about three inches of "wall" that the baby would have to get over - in addition to an overhanging "lip" that curls over at the top, so he would be under it looking up at metal and totally unable to get over it....so it appears! Anyway he somehow made it in there, and he could have been in there as much as five days because that's how often I change the water and feed the adults.
That's what is so good sometimes about keeping animals - they never fail to surprise you! They have my undying respect.
